Global People Experience Manager at DDB

We have a simple belief — Unexpected Works. It means that the best idea is the one you never saw coming. The thing that catches you so off guard that you can‘t look away. And the only path to genuinely unexpected works is through creativity. Not just what passes for creativity because it answers a brief, looks the part and helps everyone sleep at night. But creativity that is foreign, surprising and interesting enough to cause jaws to drop and sales to soar. It’s having the fresh perspective and raw energy to bring something into the world that no one’s ever seen before. We’re talking about the courage to shake things up and maybe even tear a few things down. And knowing that what most would call the finish line is where the real work starts.

About the job

At DDB, we have a simple belief — Unexpected Works. It means that the best idea is the one you never saw coming. The thing that catches you so off guard that you can‘t look away. And the only path to genuinely unexpected works is through creativity. Not just what passes for creativity because it answers a brief, looks the part and helps everyone sleep at night. But creativity that is foreign, surprising, and interesting enough to cause jaws to drop and sales to soar. It’s having the fresh perspective and raw energy to bring something into the world that no one’s ever seen before. We’re talking about the courage to shake things up and maybe even tear a few things down. And knowing that what most would call the finish line is where the real work starts.

We believe in people, product, and profit, in that order. For us, people always come first. They’re the soul of our agency. It takes awesome folks to make awesome work. That’s why we make sure everyone who comes through the door is as great as the people who are already here. It’s also why we constantly strive to build diverse teams where everyone brings something unique to the table. Because you can’t make the unexpected if you only work with the usual suspects. By bringing together diverse thinkers with different backgrounds and perspectives, we validate Bill Bernbach’s notion that an idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

The global people & culture team, together with HR/talent teams located in DDB’s agencies around the world, live and breathe this vision through the delivery of impactful talent solutions. Our mission is to positively influence people experience through key employee lifecycle touchpoints according to DDB’s Four Freedoms (Freedom from Fear, Freedom to Fail, Freedom from Chaos, and Freedom to Be). Using these values and accompanying behaviours to nurture environments in which our 8,000+ talented people can reach their full potential and do the best work of their careers.

Reporting to the Global People Experience Director and working closely with the Global Chief People Officer, the core purpose of the Global People Experience Manager role is to provide tactical and strategic support against an evolving global people & culture strategic plan. You will partner with key stakeholders to deliver inclusive and progressive talent management, employee engagement, development, and retention programs.

  • Online learning content curation and driving engagement for DDB’s internal learning platform

  • Curate global in-person management/leadership learning programs

  • Supporte the delivery of annual talent management programs, including talent assessment and global succession planning

  • Facilitate our twice annual global employee engagement survey (Voice) to assist offices pre, during, and post survey

  • Drive stakeholder engagement in our global talent solutions and being an ambassador for the people strategy and the network

  • Be a key member of the global team, helping to propel an ambitious people plan for 2023 and beyond

Qualifications

  • Operational HR experience within the creative/ communications industry

  • Spanish speaking: desirable but not essential

  • Experienced in managing multiple projects, operating within tight deadlines, prioritising conflicting needs to progress matters expeditiously and follow through on projects to successful completion

  • You have a keen insight into the employee experience across the full talent lifecycle and have experience delivering people programs that align with organisational culture and strategy

  • You have a good understanding of global workforce trends, understanding how employee engagement is a driver of business performance

  • You work well with everyone and can flex your style as needed to successfully build positive cross-cultural relationships across organisational levels

  • You are a highly collaborative team player, but also able to work autonomously at a high pace

  • You are highly solutions-oriented, adaptable, and proactive

  • You have a growth mindset, and are not daunted by a challenge, or easily frustrated by a block in the road

  • You are inspired by the power of creativity and are endlessly curious

  • You are an advocate and ally for diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • You are an expert listener and communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • You have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

  • You can handle sensitive information, and understand the importance of confidentiality

  • You are, as DDB founder Bill Bernbach famously demanded of everyone at this agency, Talented and Nice
